Why attend the BEAM Conference
The BEAM Conference is a must attend conference for senior-level staff working in development and utilising, or interested in using, market systems approaches to reduce poverty.
It brings together over 150 senior-level international participants from donors, foundations and organisations that design, implement and evaluate programmes that use a market systems approach.
The conference comes at a critical juncture in the development of market systems approaches. We have amassed evidence and pioneered innovations and now it’s time to take stock of what works and what doesn't, learn from our successes and our failures, and shape the way forward. Register here.
The conference is focused on three key areas:
What do we know about the scale, sustainability of poverty-reducing impacts achieved using market systems approaches? What works and what doesn't? How confident should we be of the results, and how can we improve our evidence base?
- Results and insights
What have we understood from the practical experience of programmes that have used market systems approaches over the past decade? What were the persistent challenges and their most effective solutions. What are the keys to success?
- Innovative practices
What are we learning from initiatives applying market systems approaches to long-standing and complex challenges. How are practitioners adapting concepts, methods and tools to improve access to basic services, address economic exclusion and gender inequality, or achieve results in more challenging environments such as cities?
Along with two days of the main conference, we have a number of pre-conference events taking place on Wednesday, 18 May including two training sessions provided by MEDA and HELVETAS and a welcome reception at 18.00 for all. More details are here.
